McColl’s to convert 300 stores to Morrison’s

The Grocer  is reporting that McColl’s has extended its wholesale supply agreement with Morrison’s and is to convert hundreds of its store to its convenience offering. Over the next three years, 300 McColl’s c-stores will convert to Morrison’s Daily format.

New “Swift” store format

Convenience Store  is reporting that Iceland is trialing a new c-store format called Swift promising “fast, fresh & local.” The focus will be on meal solutions for breakfast, lunch & dinner. The first will be trialed in Benton, Tyne & Wear. Opening 18th March 2021.

Grocers need omni-channel

The Grocer  is reporting that lockdown has increased the adoption of omni-channel in retail. Over 25% of UK shoppers are expected to change permanently to hybrid shopping and it is now imperative that grocers equipment themselves with the right tools to service their needs.

Free from sales are growing fast

Convenience Store  is reporting that lockdown panic buying has triggered a long-term consumer interest in free from. There are a number of categories with identifiable free from sales growth: chocolate, dairy free spreads, cheese, dairy alternative drinks and vegan foods.
