November is the first of the “dark” months. Colder weather should be upon us and this influences eating and drinking purchases. There is a move to hot beverages and more “hearty” meals. The key trading opportunity is Bonfire Night with all the outdoor events and parties. This event tends to stretch across a number of days so expect the lead up to the weekend of 3rd/4th November to see a rise in sales of related products. This is likely to extend to the following weekend of 10th/11th November. Diwali is on 7th November, and offers another great trading opportunity.
Baking activity in the media home baking has re-emerged as a popular activity after years in the doldrums. This will be reflected in the demand for baking ingredients especially for Christmas.
And of course, the Christmas build-up is now well underway. Expect to see sales uplifts in the following areas:
